About Priya

Before real estate, Priya Raman spent ten years in hotels: front desk, then rooms division, then general manager of a 140-room hotel in Manhattan. She ran a building that never closed, with a staff of ninety and a guest list that included people who expected everything and people who had saved all year for one night. She learned to listen for what someone actually wants under what they say they want, and she learned how expensive it is to run a big, old building well.

Priya and her wife started coming up to Rhinebeck on weekends in 2014, then bought a small village house there in 2017. When the hotel changed hands in 2018, Priya took the buyout, got her license, and joined Fieldstone & Finch in 2019, working from the Kingston office, a short drive across the bridge.

Her practice centers on Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Tivoli and Hudson, and on the larger properties along the river: Greek Revival and Colonial estates, horse farms, houses with guest cottages and pool houses, and the kind of river-view property where the view comes with a scenic-district review before you can change a window. She is equally comfortable with the opposite end: a floor-through condo above a shop on a side street off Warren, a small village Victorian, a weekend place for someone who doesn't want to mow.

Priya's hotel background shows in how she thinks about a house. She wants to know the age of every major system, how many heating zones there are and what fuel they burn, what the annual cost to run the place really is, who has been maintaining the pool and the generator, and whether the guest cottage has a legal certificate of occupancy. Her estate listings come with a binder (the "operating manual," she calls it) that answers those questions up front. Buyers' agents ask for it by name.

She's also candid about money at this level. Purchases of $1 million and up in New York carry a 1% "mansion tax" paid by the buyer, the property taxes on an estate can rival a mortgage payment, and the market for the largest houses moves more slowly. In 2025, Rhinebeck's median days on market was 41, and big estates often take longer. Priya would rather price a house to sell this season than watch it go stale on the market.

Priya speaks English, Tamil and conversational Hindi. She volunteers at a riverfront historic estate's garden on Saturday mornings in season, and she is the brokerage's best source of information about where to eat in Hudson on a Tuesday.

Reviews

It took a summer and one price adjustment, and Priya was honest with us about both before they happened. Her binder on our house answered every question the buyers had, down to the date the septic was pumped.

— Laurence and Mei W., sold in Rhinebeck, 2025

She told us the mansion tax and the property taxes on day one, in dollars. That honesty is why we trusted her when she said the second house was worth stretching for.

— Daniel S. and Ahmed R., bought in Red Hook, 2025

I bought a condo in Hudson from three thousand miles away. Priya did video walk-throughs of every room, the basement and the street at night.

— K. Ferreira, bought in Hudson, 2024
